Very good home cooked food

This place checks all the boxes with a sweet waitress, an old guy behind the grill, and a newspaper waiting for you. I got a sausage and cheese omelette, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. The gravy is OUTSTANDING. Don't miss it. Hang your coat and take a comfortable seat.Overall, I want to try some other places in town, but I'd be willing to come back.

Wonderful food. We had the Western Omelet and biscuits and gravy bowl. Friendly and clean. Plan to make it a regular stoo! Next try will be the RUBEN sandwich!

Fantastic restaurant. I've honestly never had anything not taste perfect. Weekly specials and always a great deal. Awesome menu with something for everyone. I usually get the double cheeseburger with fries and some pie... Still not expensive and perfectly done every time. I always wonder why I don't go here more often.

A perfect example of a great hole in the wall place. The food is really great and that’s partly because it’s not trying to be anything fancy. I also love the paper cars that the kids meals come in.

Always a good meal at a good price. Those running the place are great to talk with. Sadly, I'm moving from the area and will not get back often. Thank you for the great meals over the years!

Eggs were the way I like them,hashbrownes were done thru and crispy,pancakes yummy,service excelent!

The food was awful. I am not a picky person at all, ill eat just about everything but I couldn't stomach whatever it was that they called roast beef, the mashed potatoes were no better. Service was not very friendly. I would not recommend this place at all. Very disappointed.

Their food is really good. It's all fresh and it's cooked right there. It may take a little longer to get your food but it's well worth it. You will leave with a smile on your face and a belly that's very full. I had to go home and lay down and take a nap afterwards. LOL!

Cook's is a great place when you're hungry for some home cooking but don't want to cook. Chicken fried chicken is delicious and the mashed potatoes are really good. Not a lot of atmosphere - order at the counter and get your own drinks and tableware but they do bring your meal to the table if they're not busy. Probably closer to 3.5 stars than 4.

Love the food! Food's always hot when it comes to the table! It has the best ranch salad dressing. and the salads are pretty good too. And you get what you pay for. I always get the salad and the small is all I can do. If your looking for a burger place come check it out!

Seems like a brainless breakfast dig with exceptional service and attention to conversation. Veggie omelet with hash browns and cinnamon roll covered in icing satisfying though definitely not eccentric. Late morning clientele was eclectic and friendly. Accommodations are rudimentary and something you can count on. It's comfortable.

Arrived about 1150 am on Thanksgiving Day got in line and waited a while until I paid and got seated. The place was busy but organized and offered many options. All the food I served was cooked perfectly, the right temperature , and flavorful. Totally exceeded my expectations for a buffet on this holiday.

I have been here a couple times. Every time, the food has been spot on. It's like a Coney Island, back home. Same atmosphere. And there's shrimp!!

OMG I think I just found the best diner in Topeka! Amazing tuna salad sandwich was so good I had to get another and share it with my boyfriend. My boyfriend got the mashed potatoes and meatloaf and he said was the best meatloaf he's had in a very long time. Privately and family-owned you can taste the homemade love that they pour into their food. No need to dress up, it's a casual atmosphere. As you walk in the food is listed to the left on the wall. straight to the cash and they bring it to your table. Soda is free refills. I am now officially a huge fan of this amazing Diner. If you don't like the food here something must be wrong with you. (Drop the mic).

The only thing bad I have eaten in your cafe was hamburger. It was thin like McDonalds and over cooked.

The food was wonderful as always Jeff and Rhonda cook that started the restaurant built a high quality reputation and I'm glad to see that this group is stuck carrying on the same thing way to go Cook's American Grill

Always good food. Nice little place. Home made cooking.

Burger was so-so...thin Patty, not a lot of flavor. The bacon looked pretty old on the burger as well. Men's room had the urinal torn off the wall an was not very clean. Benches had some major damage to them an were not that safe to sit in (splinters). The staff was very nice though. Earned 1 star just for the service. Food was less than I expected from a mom n pop greasy spoon.

This is a great place to eat. They have a big menu but I always seem to go for the same few things because they are so good. I recommend the cheeseburger and most recently I tried the BLT which was very good. This is a great local place to support. You won't be disappointed.

I had a double bacon cheeseburger, and it was excellent. The wait wasn't especially short or long, but the food was well worth it. I will eat here again when I'm in the area.

Such a great place for a good home cooked meal. We had a Reuben, a chili dog, and a chicken. Went home happy and full. 8

The fried mushrooms are to die for. There isn't an item on the menu I don't like. Local restaurant, great food.

I had the pulled pork sandwich special. It was very tender and tasty. The prices were very reasonable. The place appears to be very clean and taken care of. The staff is friendly and is willing to converse with customers. We will be going back soon.

Good place to eat and family owned.

Got the chicken strips, fries and gravey. It was really good but the fries could have used a little more salt, overall delicious! My sister got the roast beef dinner she said it was a little on the dry side but extremely good.
